Wednesday, November 16. 2005Best Fares from San Francisco to Europe. Want Even Colder Temps?Ok, right now it's 70 degrees in SFO, not really an ideal time to leave since this is the time of year we cherish the most, however, fares have dropped, most markedly to Moscow (MOW) and London (LON). I don't know about Moscow, but getting robbed by the Russian Mafia and eating a $20 Big Mac don't seem like much fun to me, but at least your ticket is cheap. For flights departing 11/30 returning 12/08
Best Fares from Los Angeles to Europe - Ehh, Fares are Pretty AverageThe LAX Fare Index for this week shows average fares for most routes from LAX to Europe. A couple small bright spots are Zurich (ZRH) and Paris (PAR), but otherwise fares are pretty much at the average prices, which means not too bad. You can always try a MobiCombo? For flights departing 11/30 returning 12/08
Best Fares from New York to Europe - Fare Drops Galore!A great time to book a ticket from New York to Europe. Post Thanksgiving always has pretty good fares, but Paris for under $400?! Wow, rioting never seemed so affordable. Warsaw is also cheap as is Stockholm and Florence. Walk off those pounds in Europe, trust me, you'll enjoy it. For flights departing 11/30 returning 12/08
Top 5 Off-peak Destinations For Winter: Austin, Beijing, Paris, Germany, & VancouverUSA Today published this list today of places to visit this winter. Interesting choices, but there were some noticeable oversights. I would add Prague, New York, Florence, and Geneva to this list. I've included the list as well as a quote or two from the write-up. Austin, Texas - Known as the live music capital of the world, Austin combines Texas charm with a funky, free-spirited vibe. Winter temperatures range between 60 and 70 degrees in January, February and March, allowing travelers to take advantage of the city's many outdoor activities without the oppressive summer heat. The mild temperatures are ideal for running or biking around the Town Lake hike and bike trail, exploring the music venues in the Warehouse District or on Sixth Street, and wandering South Congress Avenue (or SoCo, locally) in search of Tex-Mex and barbecue.Read the whole article here to find suggestions for hotels and things to do. Tuesday, November 15. 200551 Ways to Cut Vacation CostsWho doesn't like to save a few bucks traveling? That's after all why most people come to Mobissimo. That and the fact that nine out of ten doctors recommend us. Monday, November 14. 2005Boeing 777 Breaks Record For Flight Distance: 11,664 miles from Hong Kong to London
Boeing made aviation history last Thursday by flying more than half-way around the world in 22 hours 42 minutes.
Breaking an aviation distance record set 43 years ago by a B-52 bomber, a new long-range Boeing 777 flew more than halfway around the world nonstop Thursday in 22 hours and 42 minutes. One hundred years after the Wright Brothers established the tradition of official distance records with a 25-minute flight in a puttering biplane, the flight demonstrated for the first time that a new generation of jetliners will leave no two cities on earth beyond a nonstop flight. While most of the world's traveling public will receive this news with excitement and optimism, I look at this as a step-back for travelers. I've always viewed connections as a useful way to erase the bad luck that is the great "who will I sit next to on this flight lottery in the sky." But now, with direct flights between far flung cities like Hong Kong and London becoming reality, the bad luck of sitting next to a "talker" or a "crying baby" or an "odorous person" or the dozens of other less than desirable seat mates you may encounter in the air, has turned into a 22 hour sentence to hell with no possibility of parole through connection. I am scared I tell you. Scared. Read more about the great step backwards here. Best San Francisco Fares to Asia - Singapore (SIN) Fare has Dropped!Seems to not be the best week for fares from the west coast to international destinations. However Singapore (SIN) and Manila (MNL), two personal favourites have fare drops. Not a bad time to go, it will be a little cooler and the rains will not be so strong. For flights departing 11/24 returning 12/02
Best San Francisco to Latin America Airfare - Fare Increase, Sigh*Well, again, fares are up pretty much across the board from San Francisco to Latin America. It's the beginning of the high season down there, you know ... summer, so fares to Latin America are often higher. Quito (UIO) has a great fare, but right now is not the best time to go unless you're going to the Ollie North Camp for Sandinista Gun running. For flights departing 11/24 returning 12/02
Best San Francisco Airfare Deals to Europe - Fares Increased!Hmmm... fares have increased this week to Europe from San Francisco, but still a great time to go. No crowds, no lines, crispness in the air ... trust me, it's worth the extra 2.50%. For flights departing 11/24 returning 12/02
Best Fares from Los Angeles to Europe - Fares have IncreasedThe LAX Fare Index for this week shows increased fares for most routes from LAX to Europe. Best Airfare Deals from New York to Europe - Another Fare Drop!Still a good time to book a ticket from New York to Europe, amazingly during Thanksgiving. So if you're tired of Aunt Ethel dry bird, try the borscht in Warsaw, aquavit in Stockholm, or bistecca fiorentina in Florence. And then there's always Paris, ho hum. For flights departing 11/24 returning 12/02
Wednesday, November 9. 2005Expedia Website Glitch Allows You To Book Hotels Rooms for $2The USA Today is reporting that over the weeekend a currency conversion error allowed visitors to book hotel rooms at extremely low rates. Basically free.
So, if you're wondering if Expedia and Hilton are going to honor the bookings, the answer is kind of. At least for the month of December. Beyond that, you'll be paying the regular price.
