Big Changes At Southwest: International Flights And GDS Distribution
Two big announcements from Southwest at they realize they better start thinking globally and expanding their distribution if they want to remain the darlings of the industry. Southwest announced that they would be start flying code share flights to Canada, Mexico in the Caribbean as soon as 2009. There is even talk of flights to Europe according to the Star-Telegram. The other big news is that Southwest has finally seen the writing on the wall and decided to distribute via the GDS and they're starting with Galileo. What does that mean for you and me? You'll soon be able to shop for Southwest flights via traditional travel sites like Expedia, Orbitz, and Travelocity. Who knows, maybe you'll finally see Southwest on Mobissimo. Wink, wink.
