Tuesday, June 13. 2006Delaware, the Forgotten Tourist DestinationI have a friend from Delaware who says that in Delaware ... there's really not much to do. Unfortunately, he could not have been more wrong. The First State, however, has plenty to offer both the casual visitor and the outdoor enthusiast. Delaware is rife, yes, rife with historical landmarks to service your browsing lust. Perhaps though, the big draw is the outdoor possibilities.
Who would've known? My first thought of Delaware is billing address for all my credit cards, so the association is not wholly positive. Read more about Delaware tourism here. Trackbacks

I couldn't agree with you more. I moved to Delaware about 8 1/2 years ago and there are so many interesting venues. I agree that there's not a huge night life scene here, but there are some decent restaurants and bars. Around Wilmington the wonderful museums founded by members of the Dupont family to the beautiful parks and gardens, great tax free shopping, outdoor festivals (Flower Market, Italian Festival, etc.) and cultural events at the Grand Opera House & Hotel Dupont provide have always interested my out of town guests. Not to mention that the Delaware beaches are less than two hours away with a great restaurant scene and lots of shopping. I always felt that Wilmington offered a lot of larger city ammenities, but was still able to keep a smaller town feel.
