I remember my childhood pen pal fondly. Kind of. At least I think I had a pen pal. To tell you the truth my memories before age 12 are getting hazier by the year, so perhaps it's all part of my imaginative childhood. One full of ponies and unicorns. Gumdrops too; in the trees and littering the footpaths in front of our log cabin in the woods. Ahh, idyllic youth. If you, like me, are feeling nostalgic and a bit senile, you might want to sign up for Postcrossing. It's an online service that allows you to send and receive postcards from all over the world. Great idea, especially for people who don't have any friends, or whose friends don't travel beyond a 100 mile vicinity of their homes because they've taken the message of The Omnivore's Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals a bit too far, and in addition to only eating food grown with 100 miles of their home they now no longer travel outside 100 mile radius of their homes.
